Another recording discovered

Humphrey Lyttelton "Best of Jazz" October 1998

After a years gap in posting I found this episode

Thanks to Andy Warmsley "Radio Lives" for permission to post it here.
Recorded in October 1998 this recording celebrates the 30th year of
Humphrey's Best of Jazz radio show on the BBC Radio 2 channel.

Track listing:

1. Humph's Band - Unbooted Character (1969) (Ellington)
2. Pee Wee Russell - The Bends Blues (1968)
3. Louis Armstrong - Lucky Guy (1938)
4. George Lewis - Burgundy Street Blues
5. Oliver Jones - I Got Rhythm (Gershwin)
6. Archie Shepp - Naima (Coltrane)
7. Leo Watson - Inspired lunacy (title suggested by Humph)
8. Stan Tracey - HJC (1995)
9. Eddie Condon - How Come you do me like you do

Quality notes:
The source of this material is not clear, my guess is analogue cassette as
it's frequency response bears all the hallmarks of this media.

I received this by a streaming mode, that too defines the overall quality of
the final result. The missed and repeated frames leaving gaps and thumps where
the recovered audio parts are joined on, many of these imperfections have been
ironed out in the digital editing mode, some "lipsmack" in the narrated parts
also being removed in the editor, a general smoothing of the audio frequency
response had removed a lot of the "scratchyness" a little boosting of the bass
too has made for a more pleasant sound.

I hope you like this re-work, and don't forget to give Andy's blog a look for much
more "Radio Lives" news and postings.
